THE ETERNAL WORKERS

JOBS FOR ETERNITY!  REGISTER AT EJE!!!

Holding a job for a whole lifetime is tricky, that’s why it’s a myth. Everyone with a lifetime employment tenure gets to retire after all. However, as elizabeth says in her blog, it is also like a prison cell. You can’t get out from or have limited options in, a lifetime job contract.  Japan was the model of lifetime employment before and after the middle of the 20th centure.  After World War II, Germany proved that lifetime employment was not that difficult and its private businesses posted success after success in using the policy. The U.S. has had not much success in this area. Too late for that though, since Japan itself is already rethinking its own posture in this area.

In the case of outsourcing, one can only expect very brief tenure at the worst or a bit longish one on occasion. That’s the particular scourge of the Philippine Air Lines Employees’ Association (PALEA) at the moment. Being a former government organization, it is possible that the beauty of government workers’ tenure stuck to PAL personnel like a second skin. Its the reason why they paralyzed PAL by going on strike en masse today.

With a little capital and one or two partners, a particular capitalist creates a new company. It is the anti-thesis of both the mythical concept of lifetime employment and outsourcing. The new company hires employees contracted to work for this lifetime, and on to the next life as well as with provisions to continue the employment agreement during the life after the next, and the next one following that – assuming that reincarnation is not just gossip.  Capitalist calls his company EJE — the Exponents of Jobs for All Eternity, Ltd Corp.

I would not recommend that PAL employees join EJE. They might complain they got screwed by the capitalist behind it too.
